Yes - A visa is required for travel to Hungary

A visa is required for missionary travel to Hungary. The Consulate of Hungary requires applicants to apply for Hungarian visas directly, and a personal appearance may be necessary at the nearest Hungarian Consulate. We recommend that you contact the consulate to obtain the most current requirements and make an appointment if necessary.

Passport Requirements:

Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Hungary, with at least two blank passport pages available for a Hungarian visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Hungary visas.

Hungary Visa Application Form:

One original Hungarian visa application form. After placing your order, fill out the application form included in your Visa Application Kit.

Photo Requirements:

Two recent (taken within the last 6 months), identical, 2 x 2 passport photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/light background.

Letter Of Invitation:

A letter of invitation from the host organization or sponsor in Hungary explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Hungary. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and host’s name and contact information.

Business Letter

Letter from religious or sponsoring organization in the US, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s status/position held in the organization, clearly stating the purpose of visit to Hungary. The letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Hungary.

Proof of Travel Arrangements:

Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency or copy of airline ticket showing entry and departure from Hungary.

Hotel Confirmation:

Confirmed hotel booking for your full stay in the Schengen area.

Medical Requirements:

Proof of valid insurance coverage; insurance policy or letter from the insurance agent stating traveler has full international coverage for entire Schengen area for a minimum $50,000 US for health, accident or repatriation.

Proof of Sufficient Funds:

Evidence of sufficient funds to support stay in Hungary; most recent three bank statements and/or traveler’s cheques.

Special Instructions:

A photocopy of all documentation.
